Viktor Kochubey

Prince Victor Pavlovich Kotschubei (Russian Виктор Павлович Кочубей; Ukrainian Віктор Павлович Кочубей; * 11.jul / November 22 1768greg in Dykanka, Russian Empire, now Ukraine, .. .. † 3.jul / June 15 1834greg in Moscow) was a politician of the Russian Empire and confidant of Tsar Alexander I.

Kotschubei came from a Cossack noble family. He initially worked in the diplomatic service of the Russian embassies in London and Paris and later the Ottoman Empire. After the reform of the tsarist government by Alexander I. 1801-1802 he had held the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs and then 1802-1807 and again in 1819-1825, the Office of the Minister of the Interior. In 1834 he was appointed Chancellor ( Канцлер ) of the Russian empire, but died a short time later.
