Viktor Korchagin

Viktor Stanislavovich Korchagin (Russian Виктор Станиславович Корчагин; born August 7, 1967) is a Russian ski - orienteering and mountain bike riders orientation.

Career

In ski orienteering Korchagin was four times World Champion: 1998 on long distance as well as three times between 1998 and 2002 with the Russian squadron. His first medal he won in 1992, when the CIS season reached second place. 1994 won the Russian team with Korchagin bronze. Followed in 1998 by his big break: On the short distance he was fourth on the long distance and the season he won gold. In 2000 and 2002 he was World Champion with the Russian squadron. In the sprint Korchagin won the silver medal in 2002.

2002, Viktor Korchagin also participate in the first mountain Orienteering World Cup in France. He came in all three competitions in the top six. In the following World Cup in 2004 he finished third in the sprint behind Adrian Jackson from Australia and Alain Berger from Switzerland, in 2005 second behind his compatriot Ruslan Grizan over the long distance. Another medal he won in 2006, when the Russian squadron won silver.
