Viktor Zhdanovich

Viktor Franzevich Schdanowitsch (Russian Виктор Францевич Жданович; born January 27, 1938 in Leningrad ) is a former Russian fencer, who won three Olympic gold medals for the Soviet Union with the foil.

Schdanowitsch began in 1953 with the sport of fencing. With the Soviet team, he already took to the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne in part, but failed in the semifinals of the teams from Hungary and France. In the World Fencing Championships 1959 in Budapest, he won with Mark Midler, Yuri Sissikin, German Sveshnikov and Yuri Rudow the world title in the team standings. In single won the Brit Allan Jay.

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he succeeded in the individual competition of the finale with seven wins from seven battles the clear winning the gold medal in front of his teammate Juri Sissikin and Mark Midler. The team won the final of the Italians. The team line-up was identical to the World Cup 1959.

In much the same occupation, the Soviet team also won at the World Fencing Championships in 1961, 1962 and 1963; 1962 lacked Rudow, 1963 lacked Sissikin.

At the Olympic Games in 1964 Schdanowitsch came in individual competition in the round of 16, but then resigned as well Midler and Sveshnikov from.
