Vila OlÃmpia
Vila Olímpia is an upmarket district in the west of São Paulo, located in the district of Itaim Bibi. Vila Olímpia is one of the upmarket residential areas of the city, it is also next to the city center, Avenida Paulista, the Brigadeiro Faria Lima Avenue and Brooklin a financial center of São Paulo.
Location
Vila Olímpia is bounded by the districts Chácara Itaim, Itaim Bibi, Brooklin Novo, Moema and Cidade Jardim. History
Today's Vila Olímpia was settled in the early 20th century along the Rio Pinheiros of Portuguese and Italian immigrants. The scheduled urbanization began around 1930. The accumulation of high-tech companies gave the neighborhood the nickname Vale do SILICIO Paulistano. The TV station FOX Latin America and Discovery Communications provided by the broadcasters in Vila Olímpia.
Traffic
In the main street Rua Funchal, there are now more than Helipontos bus stops. A total of 25 Helipontos face 24 bus stops, the latter of which are often not well served in a traffic jam. The traffic problems such as congestion and the lack of sufficient parking spaces are caused by the uncontrolled expansion of the district and the construction of large office complexes in the 1990s.
Nightlife
Vila Olímpia is known for its nightlife, full of bars, dance halls and Chopperias of different kinds of music from Brazilian pagoda to modern electronic music. The Via Funchal, with a capacity of 6,000 spectators is a known event center for concerts and shows.
Structures
Villa Daslu is one of the major shopping centers, specializing in luxury goods the higher price segments. It is one of the biggest shopping centers of this category in Latin America and in the world. Other notable buildings are the E- Tower, the fifth tallest building in São Paulo, the Insper and Shopping Vila Olímpia.
