Viljo Revell

Viljo Revell Gabriel ( born January 25, 1910 in Vaasa, † November 8, 1964 in Helsinki) was a Finnish architect representatives of functionalism. Internationally known Revell was his design for the new city hall of Toronto. He was one of the leading Finnish architect of the 20th century.

Reval put his High school from the Vaasan Lyseo 1928. In 1936 he assisted in the construction of Alvar Aalto Finnish Pavilion for the World Exhibition in Paris. He completed his studies in architecture in 1937 from the Technical University of Helsinki. He married in 1941 Maire Myntti, with whom he had three daughters. During the Second World War in September 1941, he survived as a lieutenant in the armored coastal defense ship Ilmarinen a mine explosion that led to the sinking of the ship.
