Villa Alemana

Villa Alemana (Spanish: German city) is a city in central Chile. It is situated in the Región de Valparaíso. It has 97 320 inhabitants (as of 2005).

Geography and climate

The city is located about 25 km east of Valparaíso Valparaíso and belongs to the agglomeration, a municipal association. The city itself forms the commune Villa Alemana, as well as the city of Peña Blanca is. To the east of the commune are some mountains, of which the Tres Puntes 1032 m is the highest mountain.

History

Before the Spanish colonization of the people of the Picunche lived in the area around the city.

1891 a railway line was built in the area of ​​Villa Alemana. After 1893 a settlement called ' Alto de Villa Alemana ' was formed on the road from Valparaíso after Limache.
