Villa Faraldi

Villa Faraldi ( in Ligurian: Villa Faródi ) is a municipality with 452 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the northern Italian region of Liguria. Politically, it is located in the province of Imperia. It consists of the districts ( in Ital. Frazioni called ) Deglio Faraldi, Riva Faraldi, Tovetto, Tovo Feraldi and the main town of Villa Faraldi and many other small hamlets.

Geography

Villa Faraldi is located in the upper portion of the valley, from the river Cervo (also called Steria ) is traversed. The river separates the province of Imperia from the province of Savona. The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana dell'Olivo and is about 17 kilometers from the provincial capital of Imperia. The territory of Villa Faraldi is largely mountainous. Highest floor elevation is the Pizzo d' Evigno with 989 meters height; other mountains in the surrounding area are the Monte Lago ( 744 meters), the Pizzo Penna ( 747 meters ) and the Pizzo Aguzzo (757 meters).

According to the Italian classification with respect to seismic activity, the community of Zone 3 was assigned. This means that Villa Faraldi is in a seismically active zone little.

Climate

The municipality is classified under climate category D, as the number of degree days has a value of 1992. This means that in Italy legally regulated heating season is between November 1 and April 15 for 12 hours per day.
