Villa General Belgrano

Villa General Belgrano is a small town in the department Calamuchita the province of Cordoba in central Argentina. It is located in the northern Valle de Calamuchita, a valley about 75 kilometers south of the provincial capital of Córdoba in the Sierras de Córdoba and has about 6,000 inhabitants.

The city is a popular tourist destination. It is inhabited mainly by descendants of German, Swiss and North Italian immigrants - including survivors of the Second World War buried in front of Montevideo warship Admiral Graf Spee - and is therefore regarded as "alpine enclave " in Argentina.

Especially popular are the festivals: the Beer Festival (Fiesta de la Cerveza ), which is modeled after the Munich Oktoberfest, the festival of Viennese cakes (Fiesta de la Masa Vienesa ) and the chocolate festival.

The center features many buildings and houses that mimic the alpine architecture. Chance is yet to hear the German language, but this is lost more and more.
