Villa Luro

Villa Luro is a district in the west of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. The district is 2.6 km ² and is part of the Comuna C10. From 1991 to 2001, the population increased from 30 753 to 33 058 people, which represents an increase of 7.5 percent.

Description

Villa Luro was named after the doctor and contractors Dr. Pedro Luro, which divided in the 1870s its land position in the area of ​​individual parcels and sold. Luro was also involved in the development of the seaside resort of Mar del Plata. Among the first residents of the district were Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Basque immigrants. Today Villa Luro is a quiet neighborhood with suburban character and low houses. Villa Luro is home to the Club Atlético Stentor. Before moving into the nearby neighborhood Liniers, there was the stadium of CA Velez Sarsfield in Villa Luro.

The district is bounded by the following streets: Avenida Emilio Castro, Escalada, Avenida Juan B. Alberdi, Medina, Avenida Rivadavia, Avenida Miguel Calixto Canónigo del Corro, Avenida Juan B. Justo, Avenida Lope de Vega, Avenida Álvarez Jonte, Bacacay, Irigoyen, Domingo F. Sarmiento Ferrocarril train tracks, Anselmo Sáenz Valiente and Albariño.

Each year on 1 December, the Stadtteiltag is celebrated in 2011 for the 100th time.
