Villa Stuck

In the Villa Stuck, the Museum Villa Stuck located in the Au -Haidhausen, which opened in 1992 as the Museum of the City of Munich. Here, among other things, the historic studio and living quarters of the famous Munich artist Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) can be seen with the paintings.

Furthermore, additional space for special exhibitions are available to present works of art from the period around 1900. This will also encourage the exploration of the artistic work of Franz von Stuck.

History

Built in 1897/98 neo-classical Villa Stuck in the Prince Regent street in Munich is the former home of the " painter prince " Franz von Stuck. Von Stuck himself designed the villa and had 1914/15, a studio building to add. He was recognized for his planning and artistic achievement in 1928, shortly before his death, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Munich.

After years of different uses of the building were expanded in 1992 to a third municipal museum ( next to the City Museum and the Lenbachhaus ) for permanent and temporary exhibitions. In addition to the historic homes and studio spaces Franz von Stuck with a collection of works by Franz von Stuck, complemented by objects from the fields of applied art of the turn of the century, the museum presents exhibitions on topics from the historical and artistic context of Franz von Stuck and out of the area of Fine and Applied Art of the 20th Century.

From 1998 to 2000, an anew conversion by the Munich architects Kiessler Partner. Here, the input between the two buildings was transferred to them can be recorded independently. By Überglasung of the space a bright entrance hall with a cafeteria and a direct connection was to the garden. In Eckquadranten the villa is the new main staircase connecting all levels of both houses. The studio building was largely built back to its original state: The post-1945 on the ground floor of the sculpture studios retracted ceiling was the same distance as the gallery in the overlying painter's studio. Now both levels are directly connected by an open spiral staircase. In the second phase of the renovation of the villa by the office Burmeister, Wallnoefer and partners takes place. Following the studio building administrative offices are on the road in Ismaning former garage tract available.

The garden is largely restored and offers three self "closed " garden room: the third of the north-south small, intimate spaces becoming the pergola provides a welcome retreat area used for stucco. The second of three steles guarded room is enlivened by a fountain. Balcony and porch are underlying the transition to the house.
