Villafranca Sicula

Villafranca sicula is a city in the province of Agrigento in the Italian region Sicily.

Location and data

Villafranca sicula is located 67 km northwest of Agrigento. Here live 1427 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012), mainly in agriculture (cereals, almonds, wine and fruit) work.

The neighboring municipalities are Burgio, Calamonaci, Caltabellotta and Lucca sicula.

History

The town was founded in 1499 by the family Alliata. 1609 the family received the title of prince. Until 1812 the site remained in the family feud.
