Villanuco de Encartaciones, German: Basque Ratero, is a breed of dog from Northern Spain.

Origin and History

The Villanuco de las Encartaciones is a Spanish breed of dog originating from Encartaciones (Bizkaia, Basque Country ), Cantabria and northern Burgos. This small, delicate Ratero is almost to extinction. Colloquially, it is also called Basque Ratonero ( Ratonero Vasco ) denotes, although this name is not recommended.

Description

Like all Rattler is the Basque Ratero an excellent rat and mouse hunter and an excellent watchdog. It is small, has a delicate head, a short and tight -fitting coat. The coat colors vary in different shades of brown, from light to dark brown.
