Villapiana
Villa Piana is an Italian town in the province of Cosenza in Calabria with 5197 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Villa Piana is located about 88 km north of Cosenza north of the plain of Sibari. The neighboring municipalities are Cassano allo Ionio, Francavilla Marittima, Cerchiara di Calabria, Plataci and Trebisacce.
History
The founding date of the place is unknown.
Attractions
The place is a ruin of a castle from the Middle Ages. The parish church was built in Gothic style and remodeled in the 16th century in the Baroque style. In the town center there are still two towers.
