Villarosa
Villa Rosa is a city in the province of Enna in Sicily region of Italy with 5073 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Villa Rosa is situated 17 km west of Enna. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture.
Except Villa Rosa, the place has still the district Villapriolo. The neighboring municipalities are Alimena (PA ), Bompietro (PA ), Calascibetta, Enna and Santa Caterina Villarmosa (CL).
History
Originally the town was named after San Giacomo di Bombinetto. 1761, the place in Villa Rosa was renamed in honor of the painter Rosa Ciotti, who designed the city plan for the city. 1762 was the present center by the nobles Duca Placido Notarbartolo. Due to the sulfur mines and Sodasalz the place in the 19th century has developed well.
