Villaz -Saint -Pierre ( Freiburg Patois Vela -chin - Pyéro? / I ) is a municipality in the district of the canton of Fribourg Glane in Switzerland. The German name Villaz- Saint Petersburg is used today any more.

Geography

Villaz -Saint- Pierre is 729 meters above sea level. M., 4 km north-east of the district main town Romont (air line). The village is located on a hill on the northwestern edge of the Glânetals, a scenic location about 40 m above the valley floor, on the Molasseplateau of Fribourg Mittelland.

History

Attractions

The parish church of Saint- Pierre -et -Paul goes back in essence to a church from the 12th century. Its present form was given the Church the new building in 1843 in the classical style; 1943-49 it was restored.
