Villetaneuse is a commune in the Seine -Saint -Denis with 12,642 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The town is situated about twelve kilometers north of Paris.

History

Origin of the name

Villetaneuse was mentioned several times in different forms: Villa Tineosa around 1120, Villa Teignosa 1209 Teigneuse Villa 1313 Villa Scabiosa 15th century, Ville Tigneuse 1470, Ville- taneuse 1517.
