Villigst

Villigst is a district of the city sword in North Rhine -Westphalia. It is located about two kilometers southeast of Swords city center and south of the Ruhr. Villigst borders Ergste and has about 3500 inhabitants. The place is predominantly characterized by detached houses and is the preferred residential area.

History

The first mention of a castle comes from the year 1170. The system lasted until 1819 and had the classical construction of the needle seat Villigst soft.

The village Villigst was documented first in 1719. At the beginning of 1946 there were 973 inhabitants. Since 1949, particularly in the 1960s, many new areas have been identified and developed.

On 1 January 1975 Villigst was incorporated into the city sword. Previously belonged to the Official Villigst Westhofen in a circle Iserlohn.

Protestant Academic

In Villigst also the Protestant Academic Foundation has its headquarters The Protestant Academic Foundation is the Begabtenförderungswerk the Evangelical Church in Germany. Every year it supports about 800 students and doctoral students of all subjects at universities and colleges with scholarships and extensive programs.
