Villy -le- Pelloux is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Villy -le- Pelloux is located at 699 m above sea level. M., about 11 km north of the town of Annecy (air line). The village stretches a scenic location on a broad ridge south of the valley of Usses, on the southwestern edge of the plateau of Bornes, in Genevois.

History

Villy -le- Pelloux is first mentioned at the beginning of the 15th century. The place name is derived from the Gallo-Roman personal name and means Villius estate of Villius.

The village church of Villy -le- Pelloux dates from the 15th century, has been restored several times later and shows Gothic styles.

With 877 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Villy -le- Pelloux one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. Since the early 1970s, a substantial population increase was recorded thanks to the attractive residential area.
