Vilma BardauskienÄ—

Vilma Bardauskienė (birth name Vilhelmina Augustinavičiūtė; born June 15, 1953 in Pakruojis ) is a former Lithuanian long jumper, who took for the Soviet Union.

Under her maiden name when she won the Soviet Championships in 1970 to fourth place with 6.13 meters. In 1972, she finished sixth with 6.06 meters. In 1977, she ran as Vilma Bardauskienė and finished with 6.28 meters for third place.

At the European Indoor Championships 1978 in Milan, she was 6.15 meters Ninth. In the summer of 1978, she won the Soviet Championship with 6.82 meters. On August 18, 1978, she jumped in Chisinau, 7.07 meters world record and improved the old world record by Sigrun Siegl from the GDR to eight inches. This Bardauskienė was the first woman who jumped over seven meters.

With her world record, she was of course the favorite at the European Championships 1978 in Prague. In qualifying on August 29, 1979, she improved her world record by two centimeters to 7.09 meters. In the final, she jumped 6.88 meters and won the title before Angela Voigt from the GDR with 6.79 meters.
