Vilmos Kondor

Vilmos Kondor (born 1954 ) is a Hungarian writer.

Life

Vilmos Kondor studied at the University of Szeged, among other chemical engineering; later moved to this box at the Sorbonne in Paris. Upon successful completion, he returned to Hungary.

Currently (2012 ) lives Vilmos Kondor along with his family near Sopron. He teaches at a high school science, mainly mathematics.

Reception

By his own admission Vilmos Kondor found his style in the novel noir. His models were Jim Thompson, Charles Willeford and Dashiell Hammett apply. As a tribute to the latter designed by Vilmos Kondor his protagonist " Vörös Margó " to " Dinah Harvest", a character in Hammett's first novel Red Harvest.

Already with the first volume of his series Budapest Noir by Vilmos Kondor had been able to convince readers as well as literary criticism. The series is scheduled to six volumes and describes the situation from the thirties in the city of Budapest and its vicinity. His protagonist, the police reporter " Zsigmond Gordon " gets through his work necessarily always in dangerous situations.

The first volume is set in 1936 and deals with the illegal prostitution. The second volume deals with the political situation in 1939, a few weeks after the beginning of World War II and the third band performs this topic further and shows the capital in 1943. The fourth band sits in time shortly after the war.
