Viluppuram (Tamil: விழுப்புரம் Viḻuppuram [ ʋɨɻɯp uɾʌm ː ]; Also: Villupuram ) is a city with almost 100,000 inhabitants in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located in the north-west of Tamil Nadu, near the coast of the Bay of Bengal about 150 kilometers southwest of the capital, Chennai ( Madras). The nearest major town is Puducherry ( Pondicherry) about 35 miles to the east. Viluppuram is the capital of the district of the same name.

Viluppuram is an important rail junction that connects Chennai with the south of Tamil Nadu.
