Vilvoorde (French Vilvoorde ) is a city in Belgium ( Flemish Brabant Arrondissement Halle- Vilvoorde ).

The city has 41,005 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012) and is located immediately north of Brussels. About 10% of the population is of Spanish descent, although in many cases born in Belgium.

Economy

Vilvoorde is a traditional industrial city. However, the Renault factory Renault Belgique industry in 1997, closed until then the most important employer. The structural change was especially, for example, the regional television ring - TV, promoted by the establishment of media companies.

Traffic

Vilvoorde is very conveniently located. Through the town the railway from Brussels to Antwerp leads.
