Vinay, Isère

Vinay is a commune with 4050 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Isère, in the Rhône -Alpes; it belongs to the district of Grenoble and the canton of Vinay.

Geography

Vinay is located on the lower reaches of the Isère in Bas Grésivaudan, halfway between Grenoble and Valence, at the foot of the Vercors massif and below the mountain Montvinay and his castle. Vinay is located in the center of the largest nut - growing area in Europe (AOC Noix de Grenoble).

The municipality has a station on the railway line Valence- Moirans, this is served by TER Rhône -Alpes trains. The line was electrified in the years 2011 to 2013. For this purpose, it had to be during the summer months, partially blocked. The next TGV stations are Valence TGV and the Grenoble train station.

Vinay has a connection point to the Autoroute A49 which runs south of the community core. In addition, the D1092 ( former National Road ) runs through the town.
