Vincent Madeley Harris

Vincent Madeley Harris ( born October 14, 1913 in Conroe, Texas, USA; † 31 March 1988) was Bishop of Austin.

Life

Vincent Madeley Harris received on 19 March 1938, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Galveston.

On July 4, 1966, Pope Paul VI appointed him. the first bishop of Beaumont. The Coadjutor Bishop of Galveston - Houston, John Louis Morkovsky, donated to him on 28 September of the same year in the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Houston episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Coadjutor Bishop of Wichita, Leo Christopher Byrne, and the Bishop of Altoona - Johnstown, James John Hogan. On the following day he was introduced to the St. Anthony Cathedral in Beaumont by the Archbishop of San Antonio, Robert Emmet Lucey, in the office.

On April 27, 1971, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Rotaria and Coadjutor Bishop of Austin. With the age-related resignation of Bishop Louis Joseph Reicher on 15 November of the same year he joined its successor as Bishop of Austin.

February 25, 1985, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
