Vincenza Gerosa

Vincenza Gerosa, native Caterina Gerosa, ( born October 29, 1784 in Lovere, Italy, † June 28, 1847 in Lovere ) founded together with Bartholomäa Maria Capitanio the Congregation of the Suore di Carita delle Sante Bartolomea Capitanio Vincenza Gerosa e ( Suore di Carita also suore di Maria Bambina ). Vincenza Gerosa was the second superior of the community. In the Roman Catholic Church, she is venerated as a saint.

Life

Vincenza Gerosa was born on October 29, 1784 as Caterina Gerosa in the northern Italian Lovere. Her parents died early. Catarina was involved early in the care of the sick and caring for the poor. After the death of her uncle Caterina inherited a house with land that rebuilt it with the help of her friend Bartholomäa Capitanio to a hospital. It was opened on 1 November 1826, led by Capitanio. After a short time there was a lack of nurses for the sick supply. This fact met the two women through the establishment of a congregation, the Suore di Carita ( Sisters of Charity "). On November 21, 1832, the two women took off their vows, and Caterina took the monastic name Vincenza. Bartholomäa Capitanio became the first abbess of the Congregation, which focuses the nursing and the education of poor girls formed. After the death Bartholomäa Capitanios on July 26, 1833 Sr. Vincenza took over the management of the monastic community. The papal recognition of the Order was 1841.

Sr. Vincenza Gerosa died on 28 June 1847 at which time the congregation had 24 branches. She grew strong; hundred years after its creation she wore more than 1150 charitable relief organizations in America, India and Transjordan. Sr. Vinzenca Gerosa was born on May 7, 1933 and beatified on May 18, 1950 by Pius XII. canonized. Your Memorial Day in the liturgy is June 28.
