Vincenzo Grimani

Vincenzo Grimani (* 1655, † September 26, 1710 in Naples) was an Italian cardinal, diplomat, and opera librettist.

Grimani was abbot of S. Maria di Lucedo and was appointed on 22 July 1697 Cardinal. From 1708 to 1710 he was a Habsburg Viceroy of Naples and imperial ambassador to the Holy See.

From his pen the libretto for the opera Agrippina by George Frideric Handel to Elmiro re di Corinto by Carlo Pallavicino, and Orazio of Giuseppe Felice Tosi (Venice 1688) originates. Grimani was the owner of the Teatro San Giovanni Crisostomo, later Teatro Malibran in Venice.
