Vincenzo Modica

Vincenzo Modica ( born March 2, 1971 in Mistretta ) is an Italian long-distance runner, who had his greatest success in the marathon.

In 1991 he was Italian champion in the 10,000 - meter race, 1993 and 1997 in cross-country running and 1992-1994 in the half marathon.

He was third in the Venice Marathon in his personal best of 2:11:39 in 1996. The European Athletics Championships 1998 in Budapest, he took the bronze medal and at the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville the silver medal behind Abel Antón (ESP ) and before Nobuyuki Satō (JPN ). In a marathon, the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, he did not reach the goal.

He was fourth in the Maratona di Sant'Antonio Italian marathon champion with a time of 2:14:03 in 2005.

The runner with the nickname " Massimo " is 1,68 m tall, weighs 53 kg and starts for the club Fiamme Oro Padova. He is married, has a son and is employed by the police.
