Vinelz
Vinelz (French Fenis ) is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Seeland in Switzerland.
Vinelz is a so-called mixed community. Together with Lüscherz is a Reformed congregation.
Geography
Vinelz is in the Great Marsh, a particularly fertile area with almost black soil in the Berner Seeland. At the same time it is located on the south shore of Lake Biel. The neighboring communities of north clockwise beginning are Lüscherz, Brüttelen, ins and Erlach.
Policy
Community is President Rita Bloch (2009).
The voter shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 28.9 %, BDP 25.4 %, SP 14.6 %, GPS 8.8 %, glp 7.4 %, FDP 6.6 %, CVP 2.0 %, EDU 1.5 %, EPP 1.3 %, pirates 1.2 %.
Culture
The Club 172 is located in the premises of the former Landi store.
Traffic
Vinelz is accessible by post bus.
Personalities
Burkhard von Fenis, later Bishop of Basel was born in Vinelz, and from 1925 to 1931 worked here as a pastor Walter Lüthi.
