Vinnytsia Tramway

The tram Vinnytsia is a tram service in Vinnitsa in the Ukraine. It was opened on 28 October 1913 and was built in meter gauge.

History

In the years 1955, 1958, 1963, 1966, 1968, 1977, 1986 and 1991, new sections were opened for the expansion of the network. Until the early 1990s, the network of nine lines were busy. 2003 is left of these only four. Are used almost exclusively TATRA vehicles. 2003 360.000 passengers traveled per day on average.

In the years 2007 and 2008, the Zurich Transport donated 25 about 40 -year-old tram compositions of the types " carp " and " Mirage" by Vinnytsia, also some sidecar based on the Swiss standard car. The transport and by 2008 taking place commissioning was funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs ( SECO).

Like almost all operations of Ukraine the company works with high deficits. The ticket sales cover only 50 percent of the cost. The fact that almost two thirds of all passengers may travel free of charge by law, does the rest. The deficit of the tram is compensated by the state.
