Vinod Khanna

Vinod Khanna ( born October 6, 1946 in Peshawar, British India ) is an Indian actor, film producer and politician.

Acting Career

Khanna, who predominantly played at the beginning of his career, character parts and villains, developed in the seventies, one of the most successful actors of Bollywood. His breakthrough came in 1971 with the addition Meena Kumari Gulzar film Mere Apne, a remake of Tapan Sinha's Apanjan from the year 1968. This was followed by other hits like Parvarish (1977 ), Amar Akbar Anthony (1977 ), Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978 ) The Burning Train ( 1980) and Qurbani (1980).

In 1979, he retired at the height of his success, for some time by the film industry and lived for several years with his guru Osho in Rajneeshpuram. Mid-eighties, he took his film career again. His activities as a politician, however, has in the last decade means that he has severely limited his film work. He now plays mainly character roles.

Political career

1997 Khanna joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP ), and began a career as a politician. In 1998, he won a seat in the 12th Lok Sabha, which he successfully defended in the elections to the 13th and 14th Lok Sabha in 1999 and 2004.

From 1 July 2002 to January 28, 2003 Khanna India was Minister of Tourism and Culture. From 29 January 2003 to May 2004 he served as Secretary of State for External Affairs in the Indian Foreign Ministry. With the defeat of the BJP in 2004, he lost his ministerial post.

Private life

Khanna married Geetanjali his wife, whom he had met during his studies shortly after the beginning of his film career and has two sons from her: Akshaye Khanna and Rahul Khanna, both Bollywood actor even today. End of 1975, Khanna became a disciple of Osho. In the early eighties, he spent four years after Rajneeshpuram, Osho's commune in the United States, where he worked as a dishwasher, janitor and gardener. The long absence of his family, who had remained behind in India and only had telephone contact with him, caused tensions with his wife, and the marriage ended in divorce.

1990 married Khanna his second wife, Kavita. The couple has two children.
