Vinohrady Theatre

Vinohrady ( German: Theater in the vineyards ) was in the city of Royal Vinohrady on 24 November 1907 opened ( German Royal Vineyards ) in Prague and is today one of the great Prague playhouses.

History

1902 was a competition for " a theater of Slavic authors " instead. The winning design came from twelve submitted by the architect Alois Čenský. The construction was started in 1905 by the architect Jan Josef Vesely and Majer. At the premiere in 1907, Godiva was performed by Jaroslav Vrchlický.

Since 1919, plays were performed in accordance with the original purpose only. On February 1, 1922 Vinohrady district of Prague were to and so does the Městské were Divadlo ( German: Municipal Chamber Theatre ) and the Vinohrady merged and as a Prague City Theatre (Czech: Městské Divadlo ) continued. In 1950, there was a forcible separation by the Central Theatre of the Czechoslovak army was split off from the theater. The newly formed theater named later to the theater in the Czechoslovak army. In 1967 it got its original name back. In addition to the Schauspielhaus theater today maintains a theater club and a chamber theater.

At the theater many famous Czech actor Miloš Kopecký as Václav Vydra and Jaroslav Vojta occurred. As a dramatist Karel Čapek did particularly apparent. The film was directed by Karel Hugo Hilar personalities such as Otakar Ostrčil, Jaroslav Kvapil and Jiří Frejka.
