Vinyl ester

Vinyl ester resin (abbreviated PU, also called phenacrylate ) is a synthetic resin and the cured state, a thermosetting plastic of high strength and chemical resistance.

Vinyl ester resins are prepared by esterification of epoxy resins with acrylic acid or methacrylic acid. The reaction product is then dissolved for example, in a styrene mass content from 35 to 45 %. Curing is carried out by radical polymerization, wherein the double bonds of the styrene and the unsaturated ester copolymerized with each other.

Vinyl ester resin, in addition to epoxy resin and unsaturated polyester resin used in the manufacture of thermoset glass fiber reinforced plastics.
