Violin Romance No. 1 (Beethoven)

The Violin Romance No. 1 in G major, op 40 is one of two Violin Romances by Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven's further contribution to this genre is the Violin Romance in F major, Op 50.

Composers like Carl Nielsen, Max Bruch and Dvořák settled by Beethoven's Violin Romances, at the same time established a new musical genre, inspire their own contributions.

Formation

About the matter of composition is not known. Contrary to the numbering of the Violin Romance in G major was written later; it was composed in 1802, but in 1803, published two years before her sister plant.

About the Music

The piece is introduced by a thoughtful theme of violin double stops, the - is presented without orchestral accompaniment - in contrast to the F major romance. From the variation of the theme, a dialogue between violin and orchestra developed.

On the one hand shares the G major romance with the F major Romanze the Alla breve clock, the lyricism in the main theme as well as its contrast by another theme in Moll (which in the case of G major Romance in ABA - form is divided ), on the other hand, the G major romance is dramatic designed in part as its sister plant.
