Vire

Vire is a municipality with 11,936 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the French region of Lower Normandy Calvados region. The city is the seat of the prefecture (French Sous- préfecture ) of the arrondissement Vire, this consists of six cantons, the city itself is also the seat of a canton.

Geography

The city is located on the eponymous river Vire.
