Virecourt
Virecourt is a commune with 469 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Luneville, in the canton of Bayon and founded in 2004, community association Communauté de communes du Bayonnais.

Geography
The community Virecourt lies on the Moselle, about 20 kilometers southwest of Luneville and 30 kilometers southeast of Nancy. Located in the south of the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle municipality of Virecourt rises from the Mosel Valley in south-east gradually to about 80 meters in altitude. In the south, the municipality has a comprehensive 30 acres share of the Bois de Villa Court, which constitutes more than 40 square kilometers of contiguous forest area along with the Forêt de Charmes in the Vosges. North of Virecourt the terrain falls to the Mosel tributary neuron whose valley section is used by the railway line Nancy- Epinal - Remiremont, to get from the river to the Meurthetal.
Neighboring communities of Virecourt are Bayon in the north, the east Froville ( point of contact ), Villa Court in the southeast, Bainville -aux- Miroirs the southwest, Mangonville in the west and Roville -devant- Bayon in the northwest.
History
In 1255 the abbess of the monastery located north of Nancy to have in Bouxières -aux -Dames allowed the Templars in Xugney to dig a channel to use water from the Moselle River for a water mill in Virecourt.
In the 14th century Virecourt belonged to the lords of the Order of Malta, whereupon today suggesting the Maltese cross in the coat of arms.

In the Museum of Old and Contemporary Art ( Musee d'Art ancien et contemporain departmental ) in Epinal is located a stone Gallo- Roman altar, which was used as a baptismal font of the church Virecourt.

By Virecourt the secondary road D112 leads from Charmes after Bayon. The Bayon station which is located in the municipality of Virecourt lies on the railway line Nancy- Epinal - Remiremont, which is operated by the Company TER Lorraine.
