Visalia is a city in Tulare County in the U.S. state of California with 123 670 inhabitants (as of January 2009). The geographic coordinates are: 36.33 ° N, 119.32 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 74.0 km ² and is located on the California State Route 99 at the junction to Sequoia National Park.

In Visalia is one of the largest skate parks in California.

The controversial film Ken Park plays in Visalia.

History

The city was founded on November 1, 1852 by Nathaniel Vise in the Four Creeks area with its vast oak forests. He named his new town after his own hometown of Visalia in Kentucky.
