Stokes ( St) in the CGS system of units, the name of the unit cm ² / s of kinematic viscosity; it is named after the English mathematician and physicist George Gabriel Stokes.

In business ( legally ) in Germany since 1978 the SI unit m / s is required. In practice, the specification in cSt ( centistokes ) is common.

Conversion:

The Stokes was declared in Austria under the name Stok by Federal Act of 5 July 1950 to the statutory measure; 1973, the name was changed in Stokes. The device name Stok 1342 " toughness " of August 1936 also recommended in the German standard DIN.
