Viscount Trenchard

Viscount Trenchard of Wolfeton in the county of Dorset is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, named after the family Trenchard.

Award

The title was in 1936 the first Marshal of the Royal Air Force Hugh Trenchard awarded. He had been commander in chief of the newly formed Royal Air Force in World War Commander in Chief of the Army stationed in France air forces and in the following decade. Until 1935 he was then Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service.

Subordinate title

The first Viscount was appointed baronet of Wolfeton in the county of Dorset in 1919. 1927 Trenchard was promoted to the rank of a Baron Trenchard, also charged by Wolfeton in the county of Dorset. Both titles are now operated as subordinate title.

The heir apparent is the son of the current Viscount, Hon ( the Hon ) Alexander Thomas Trenchard ( b. 1978 ).
