Viscount

Viscount (in French, in English: Viscount, in Dutch: Burggraaf, in Italian: Visconte, in Portuguese: Visconde, from Latin: Vice Comes ) was originally the deputy of a count ( Viscount ). In England, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, there is the standalone title of between Baron and Count ( or Earl Comte ) standing nobles.

The name came before 819 in the Frankish kingdom for the first time and was probably introduced by the Normans in England, where first the sheriff wore this item. In France, often led the eldest son of an earl or marquis the title of viscount.
