Viskan is the northernmost of the four great rivers of Sweden's west coast.

This 140 km long lake is the outlet of the lake Tolken, lies to the west of Ulricehamn. The river flows through Borås and then takes the rivers Häggån, Surteån and some more on. About 15 km from the center of Varberg flows into the river in the Kattegat. Since 1880 there is a railway line, Viskadalsbanan which largely follows the river.

The water power of the Viskan enabled the development of several earlier weavings what the economic development of the region positively influenced.
