The Vissel (also Vissel Bach) is a 12 km long river in the Lüneburg Heath. It rises in the center of Visselhoevede, in one of the most powerful sources of Lower Saxony lowlands, flows first in a northerly and then in a north-westerly direction and flows south-west of Bothel in the Rodau. At its headwaters, in the city Visselhoevede, the creek has water quality II -III ( critically polluted ), but later goes on in Class II ( moderately polluted ).
