Yolk Weaver (Ploceus vitellinus )

The yolk Weaver (Ploceus vitellinus ), also known as yolk Yellow Weber, is a species of bird in the family of weaver birds. The kind that is very peaceful in the attitude and soon will become very tame, is occasionally kept as an ornamental bird in Europe.

Description

The yolk Weber reaches a body length of 14 centimeters. Beak and face of the male are black. The neck and throat show some rust-colored spots. The wings and tail are gray to black. The female is considerably simpler colored and oberseits olive green yellow and blackish striped lengthwise.

The yolk Weber usually does not form large breeding colonies. The nest is oval; it has no test flight tube. The nest consists of two to three eggs.

The distribution area of the yolk Weber extends from Senegal on the African continent away to the south of Ethiopia, Somalia and northern Tanzania. The habitat is the thorn bush savannah. Outside the breeding season it is often observed in large swarms.
