Vitello tonnato
Vitello tonnato ( from Italian vitello " calf " tonno " Tuna " - tonnato " tuna sauce " ) is an antipasto, that is, an appetizer of Italian cuisine, which originates from the Piedmont. It is with white wine and vegetables cooked and thinly sliced veal, which is cooled coated with a tuna sauce.
These finely pureed sauce usually consists of marinated tuna, mayonnaise, a little cooking water of the meat, anchovies and capers, but there are different regional recipes. The dish is served chilled and marinated and topped with lemon slices and capers.
