Vito Frazzi

Vito Frazzi ( born August 1, 1888 in San Secondo Parmense; † July 7, 1975 in Florence) was an Italian composer and music educator.

Frazzi studied at the Conservatory of Parma organ with Arnaldo Galliera ( until 1909 ) and composition with Italo Azzoni and Guido Alberto Fano ( until 1911 ). From 1912 he taught piano at the Conservatory of Florence, from 1924 counterpoint and harmony. From 1926 to 1958 he was Professor of Composition. In addition, he was from 1932 to 1963 composition courses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena. Among his pupils were, inter alia, Luigi Dallapiccola, Valentino Bucchi, Bruno Bettinelli, Angelo Francesco Lavagnino and Alberto Soresina.

Frazzi composed operas and theater music, sinfomische works and chamber music, choral works and songs. In addition, he arranged and edited numerous operas by Italian composers from Claudio Monteverdi to Gaetano Donizetti.
