Vittorino Veronese

Vittorino Veronese ( * 1910 in Italy, † 1986) was dated 5 December 1958 to November 2, 1961 General of UNESCO.

Biography

As an anti -fascist lawyer, journalist, university teacher and father of seven children, Veronese interested very early for Social Issues and Education and its international dimension. After the end of fascism, he was appointed to high positions in the Italian banking and served as Secretary General and President of the Azione Cattolica ( 1944-1952 ).

Veronese Italy had attained great prestige in the political and cultural life, and was a candidate, the balancing and the compromise -seeking forces. It was known his art of negotiation and its ability of rhetorical harmonization of disagreement.

From 1952 to 1956 he represented his country in the UNESCO's Executive Board, which he headed until 1958 as president.
