Vittorio Algeri

Vittorio Algeri ( born January 3, 1953 in Torre de ' Roveri ) is an Italian former racing driver and current sports director.

Vittorio Algeri launched in 1976 at the Olympic Games in Montreal and finished eighth in the road race. In the same year he was Italian champion in the road race in the Amateur and won the Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda in the amateur class, where he had previously finished second in the year.

1977 Algeri turned pro and became the all-rounder to rail and road. In 1980 he became Italian champion in the points race. On the street was Vittorio Algeri 1977 behind Bernard Hinault second at Gent- Wevelgem and won the 1984 Coppa Bernocchi, which was considered at the same time as an Italian road championship. Eight times he competed in the Giro d' Italia, his best finish was 14th in 1977. 1978 he won a stage.

After his retirement from cycling in 1987 Algeri worked as sports director, including at Team Milram and Domina Vacanze. Since 2012 he has been working on the new Australian team GreenEDGE Cycling Team.

Vittorio Algeri is the younger brother of former racing cyclist Pietro Algeri.
