Viv Richards

Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards OBE (nickname: " Master Blaster " ), ( born March 7, 1952 in Saint John 's, Antigua and Barbuda), better known as Viv Richards, is a former cricketer who played team for the West Indies Cricket. A jury of Wisden Cricketers ' Almanack, he was voted one of the five best cricketers of the 20th century. Also from Wisden Almanack, he was voted one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1977. Richards was 1984-1991 in 43 encounters in Test cricket and 108 One-Day International Matches (ODI ) captain of the West Indies Cricket team.

Career

Participation in World Championships

Viv Richards participated in four Cricket World Cups with the West Indies team in part. 1975 and 1979 he won with his team in each tournament. In the World Cup final in 1979 against England, Richards scored 138 runs and was voted man of the match. At the World Cup in 1983, he defeated his team in the final of the outsider India. At the World Cup in 1987, he retired with the West Indies team already out in the first round.

Tests and ODIs

Viv Richards played during his career 121 Tests and scored 8540 runs ( 50.23 runs per wicket ). His first test he played on November 22, 1974 against India in Bangalore. Its last use in a test he had against England. This was held in London from August 8 to August 12, 1991. Richards denied further 187 ODIs, where he scored a total of 6721 runs (47 runs per wicket ). His ODI debut Viv Richards against Sri Lanka on June 7, 1975. This was the first match of the West Indies in the Cricket World Cup in England. His last ODI he played against England on 27 May 1991.

Others

Richards was not only a great cricketer, he also played football. With the National Team of Antigua and Barbuda, he played games with the qualifying tournament for the World Cup 1974. 1999 was Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards knighted.
