VIVA was produced by VIVA TV Productions Sp z oo, a 100 percent subsidiary of VIVA Fernsehen GmbH. The VIVA TV Productions Sp z o.o. was founded in April 2000.

The music channel was launched in June 2000 under the name Viva Polska! based in Cologne and was the first foreign branch of VIVA Media AG and VIVA brand. Viva Polska! started with a daily moderated 6-hour program. The transmitter was characterized by the fact that it contained many local elements and almost all consignments received a Polish name.

The German VIVA had by broadcasting via satellite Hot Bird position a great reputation in Poland. VIVA sent there for years until the change on Astra and was fed in many Polish cable networks, which VIVA has become the most watched music channel in Poland. This positive response led to VIVA 2000 expanded to Poland.

Viva Polska! sent from the beginning with a German license from the VIVA office building in Cologne. The programs were produced in Warsaw and Cologne, the program flow was created. Transmission line, satellite hook- and "On - Air" promotion were handled from Germany, the production of the program and the marketing of the transmitter in Poland. The marketing of the VIVA Advertising Sales and the Polish Media 5 were responsible.

In April 2002, the program of 12 hours was extended to 24 hours a day. At the same time the station began broadcasting an unencrypted via satellite, so the station was able to increase its reach by 30%.

2003 Viva Polska! renamed VIVA and got the logo and uniform appearance as were all VIVA channels in Europe at this time.

Since the acquisition of VIVA Media AG by Viacom, the transmitter is part of the Viacom group. End of 2005, the seat of the station of Cologne was moved to Berlin. The broadcast center VIVA is located in London.

A short time later the Polish VIVA from the VIVA Media GmbH was spun off and integrated into MTV Networks. First, the transmitter sent with a British license, now he sends as well as the Hungarian VIVA, which has also been carved out of VIVA Media GmbH, a Czech license.

Since 17 July 2012, the station transmits with the international logo. With the switch to the transmission format from 4:3 to 16:9, the station moved simultaneously into the pay- TV.
