Vlad Țepeș, Călărași

Vlad Tepes (deprecated Bărăganul Nou ) is a municipality in the district Calarasi in Wallachia, Romania.

Geographical location

The community Vlad Tepes is the Wallachian Plain ( Câmpia Română) in the historical region of the Great Wallachia. In Bărăgan on the National Road (Drum National) DN 3, about ten kilometers south of the Romanian A2 - part of the European Route 81 - the place Vlad Tepes is located 30 kilometers north- west of the district capital Calarasi; the Romanian capital Bucharest is located about 100 kilometers west of Vlad Tepes away.

On the grounds of the community are not flowing waters. The water is supplied from the 24 -acre pond at eingemeindeten village Mihai Viteazu, or by about 0.5-20 meters deep well.

History

The state finished my village Mihai Viteazu with the outdated name Bărăganul was first recorded 1857-1858 in the center of the plain of the same name. The present town Vlad Tepes was born in 1893 under the name Bărăganul Nou and was ten years to today eingemeindeten village until 1903, the place was named Vlad Tepes community center.

Population

2002 there were 2,619 inhabitants in the municipality. 2,616 of these were Romanians and three described themselves as Turks. In the 2011 census, 2,336 people were counted in the municipality of Vlad Tepes in 1,205 households. 2,087 were Romanians, 80 were Roma and the rest were registered without ethnic information.

The main occupation of the population is animal husbandry and agriculture.
