Vladimir Berkovich

Vladimir G. Berkovich, Russian Владимир Беркович, Vladimir Berkovich, is a Russian- Israeli mathematician who deals with arithmetic algebraic geometry and non- Archimedean (p- adic ) analytic geometry.

Berkovich received his doctorate at Yuri Manin. He teaches at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot.

In 1990, he led a Berkovich spaces, the analogues of analytic spaces in the p- adic numbers.

In 2012 he became a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. 1991/92 and 2000 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study.

He received the Humboldt Research Award.

In 1998 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin (p- adic analytic spaces ).
